Dr. Lisa Stolper, Principal

Dr. Lisa Stolper serves as the principal of Lakewood Middle School. She is honored to lead a school community where students are at the heart of every decision and where staff members are deeply committed to student growth and well-being.

Originally from Denver, Colorado, Stolper earned her undergraduate degree from Tulane University and later completed both her master’s and doctoral degrees in educational leadership at Baker University.

She began her career in education as a special education teacher in Denver before moving to Overland Park. In Blue Valley, she taught Spanish at both the middle and high school levels. While she has experience across all grade levels, Stolper has a special passion for middle school. She is proud to help guide Lakewood students through this important phase and is committed to supporting their academic success and personal development.

Outside of school, Stolper enjoys spending time with her husband, Jeff, and their two sons, Bo and Nash. As a family, they enjoy exploring Kansas City, trying new restaurants and spending time outdoors.

Lakewood Middle School is a place where students are known, valued and supported. Stolper is proud to lead a staff that is dedicated, caring and highly skilled. Together, they strive to create an inclusive, welcoming environment and to partner closely with families to ensure every student’s success. She is committed to making Lakewood a place where every student feels safe, supported and a true sense of belonging.

Dylan Owings, Assistant Principal

Dylan Owings serves as assistant principal at Lakewood Middle School. A proud native of Overland Park, Owings is excited to bring his passion for middle school education to the Lakewood community. His goal is to help foster a safe, inclusive and energetic environment where students can grow academically, socially and emotionally.

Owings earned his bachelor’s degree in biology–secondary education from Kansas State University. He began his teaching career at Pleasant Ridge Middle School, where he spent six years teaching a range of subjects, including seventh-grade social studies, science, reading intervention and humanities. He was also deeply involved in student life—serving as head track coach, assistant football coach and founder of the school’s Hype Crew. His passion for leadership led him to pursue and earn a master’s degree in school leadership from Baker University.

Building connections is at the core of Owings’ philosophy. He believes that positive relationships between students, staff and families are essential to creating a meaningful and memorable middle school experience. He brings a contagious energy to his work and is always looking for ways to make school fun and engaging for everyone.

Outside of school, Owings enjoys woodworking and building furniture, spending time outdoors, watching football and discovering new places with his family. He and his wife, Jenna—an elementary school counselor—have been married since 2017 and are parents to two young children, Crew and Palmer.

Owings is proud to be part of the Lakewood team and looks forward to helping students make the most of their middle school years.
